Reliable. Careful. Innovative.

Project success is team success

"Typically Hanseatic" - that's how we see ourselves, and that's how our customers and partners see us. We have been at their side for almost 40 years. We support them in process optimization, simulation, data migration and programming - reliably and persistently. UDS specializes in CAD and BIM, especially in infrastructure and civil engineering. We have long-standing partnerships with corporations and medium-sized companies at home and abroad, with trade, industry and administration - from person to person.

Yesterday. Today. Day after tomorrow.

Designing means shaping the world

In 1983, Autodesk launched the first affordable design program that ran on a personal computer (PC). It quickly became clear that this AutoCAD could do a lot, but not everything. What now? - Go back to the familiar large-scale systems or program your own adaptations and extensions? UDS, founded in 1985, opted for programming, threw itself with great pleasure into projects that posed unusual challenges and kept its "nose to the grindstone".

1985

Passionate about CAD and BIM

We specialize in CAD and have a lot of experience in infrastructure and civil engineering. In addition to pure design, we always focus on process optimization, process simulation and data migration. We use today's technology to develop solutions for tomorrow. A lot has changed in the past almost 40 years - but one thing has not: our enjoyment of the complex. We still enjoy creative, efficient solutions and value contact at eye level - both as a team and with our customers.

Diverse. Universal. Up to date.

Again and again.

We work for corporations and medium-sized companies in Germany and around the world, e.g. Jungheinrich, Philippine, Rockwool and Bauder. But also public authorities, e.g. Hamburg Port Authority, Dataport, Lübeck Port Authority, State Agency for Coastal Protection Schleswig-Holstein, like to make use of our expertise. Best of all, we have been working with most of them for many years on new projects.

With people

The best prerequisites for a successful project are people. People who know a lot and enjoy learning. People who like to work and like to laugh. People who know the rules and are passionate about breaking them. People who listen very carefully - because they want to understand. People at UDS bring experience from their studies, work and projects, and they are always on the lookout for the better solution. At UDS, successful customer projects are always a team success and are duly celebrated. We attach great importance to logic, which is precisely why we like to think "outside the box". Our customers like that: 95 percent have completed more than three projects with us.

Philosophy. Attitude. Character.

What you can expect from us

Hamburg is the headquarters of UDS. This characterizes even those who are not native Hanseatics. We are

Reliable

A commitment is a commitment, an appointment is an appointment, and sealing a deal with a handshake is just as important and right for us as a legally binding contract

Straightforward

We don't like to beat around the bush. We also like to put our finger in the wound, because honesty, transparency and ethics are important to us. We want to earn the trust of our customers; many long-standing customer relationships show that this works.

Direct

Hanseatically correct, yes, that's us. Always with the necessary respect and at eye level. Even if we like things to be relaxed and casual: we comply with guidelines, adhere to standards and observe prescribed processes. This is how we ensure the quality of our products and services. Correctness promotes efficiency, transparency and accountability.

Stubborn

Even if "stubborn" has a rather negative connotation, we are proud of it. We have only been able to develop many solutions because we have stuck with them. We don't want to settle for the first idea; we always look for the best one. Everyone benefits from this.

Colorful. Open. Success-oriented.

Get to know UDS personally.

Doing and letting do are important success factors in the (still) small, fine UDS team. We have the same values and are very different at the same time. This allows everyone to contribute their own strengths in the best possible way and makes it easier to break new ground together.

Management & software development

Dipl.-Inf. Thomas Martin

As Managing Director, Thomas develops strategies, brings people together, manages projects, implements software and much more. His door is always open, he loves the exchange at eye level.

Management & software development

Dipl.-Inf. Thomas Martin

Thomas started working at UDS right after graduating from high school and developed software throughout his studies (electrical engineering, computer science and geography). The good atmosphere, great colleagues both professionally and personally and the opportunity to develop himself further have always inspired him. He has been at the helm of the company since 2018 - with a clear eye for new ideas and an awareness of values. Long-term relationships and honesty are important to him - both with customers and with employees, to whom he is happy to delegate responsibility. Colleagues value him as an honest, creative team player; customers like his pragmatic, rational approach. He likes to spend his free time with his loved ones - at the cinema, traveling, cooking and eating - or on his own, tinkering with his synthesizer.

Head of software development

Dipl.- Inform. Peter-Alexis Kasten

Peter-Alexis is a software developer and problem solver with heart and soul. He has been part of the team since "time immemorial" and appreciates the human and creative cooperation at UDS.

Head of software development

Dipl.- Inform. Peter-Alexis Kasten

Peter-Alexis likes to use his time efficiently: because his computer science studies didn't start until the winter semester, he did a semester of math after his civilian service. Then the desired combination: computer science and physics. After graduating, he took off at UDS: His ideas and thoughts are an integral part of many solutions. Customers know him as a keen listener, far-sighted planner and imaginative concept developer. Problems are welcome challenges for him; he enjoys getting to grips with complex issues and developing creative solutions - especially when the going gets tough. He finds his colleagues at UDS "pretty clever" and likes the fact that the atmosphere is more human than intellectual. Whether algorithmic-logical or hands-on-practical - for Peter-Alexis there is always at least one good, usually even one best solution. Everyone benefits from this.

Sales & consulting

Dipl.-Ing. Roman Börnchen

Roman - long the head and heart of UDS - has put his heart and soul into sales, consulting and CAD training. He impresses with his knowledge, experience, insatiable curiosity and innovative ideas.

Sales & consulting

Dipl.-Ing. Roman Börnchen

Roman studied civil engineering and architecture and joined UDS in 1990 to develop innovative solutions and simplify technical processes in many companies. Obstacles are his motivation, giving up is - usually - not an option. He is just as adept at making strategic decisions as he is at operational perseverance. In 2018, he handed over the management of the company to Thomas Martin and turned his focus to sales, consulting and training. He is pleased that UDS lives by important values: being down-to-earth, willing to learn and customer oriented. He believes that the right working conditions - from coffee and vacation arrangements to public transport connections - are a prerequisite for a good working atmosphere. Learning is also important in his free time. Otherwise, he spends time with his family, improves his sailing trim on the boat or cruises through Ostholstein on his 1952 DKW 250 RT.

Communication design & e-learning

Christiane Bergmann

Technology is anything but dry, Christiane thinks, and makes documents about the rather top-heavy software products from UDS visually appealing and informative at the same time.

Communication design & e-learning

Christiane Bergmann

Christiane loves movement - physically and mentally. She has always worked and studied in parallel, e.g. art academy and commercial college, or studied communication design alongside her job. The result: a toolbox for developing marketing concepts, for graphic, logo and web design, UI/UX design, branding, e-learning, market research and analysis and much more, paired with a clear eye for structure and the ability to create beauty. At UDS, she is responsible for communication design and marketing. She appreciates the fact that the personal situation of employees is considered, that everyone can develop further and that everyone pays attention to sustainability. She lives out her physical urge to exercise by hiking and running, cycling and playing tennis ... often until she goes weak at the knees. Then books and acrylic painting provide the necessary balance.

Software development

Leonard Huster

Leonard is responsible for the (further) development of UDS solutions and works closely with the other developers. He appreciates the flat hierarchy at UDS, the short communication channels and the personal responsibility.

Software development

Leonard Huster

Leonard is a software developer with high standards of professionalism and responsibility. Alongside his work, he studies media informatics at Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences and enjoys passing on his knowledge. He began his IT career as a self-taught teenager. Programming became a passion and he has his developer tools under control. He likes to get to the bottom of topics - and not just at work. His skills as a team player with a feel for good sound were already evident before his time at UDS: As a trumpet player with a degree, he has played in many formations and taught at several music schools. He is still involved with music; martial arts provide physical balance; shaping a future worth living is a matter of concern to him.

Sales & consulting

Kathrin Rubin

As a sales assistant, Kathrin is often the first point of contact for customers. Thanks to the part-time arrangement at UDS, she is able to juggle work and family life.

Sales & consulting

Kathrin Rubin

Kathrin has spent a large part of her professional career in the healthcare sector and completed a distance learning degree in business administration. Her accuracy and organizational skills serve her well in her job as a sales assistant at UDS. She writes quotations and invoices, manages licenses - a very complex task, especially with Autodesk licenses - answers customer questions and actively supports UDS sales. Many threads come together here. Kathrin appreciates the variety of tasks and her personal responsibility at UDS; the team and customers alike value her helpfulness and friendliness. For Kathrin, there is a life outside of UDS that is at least as important. That's why she appreciates the flexible part-time arrangement, which allows her to combine family and career.

Accounting & team assistance

Wioleta Zeplin

Accounting, administration and organization are Wioleta's areas of work. She loves her varied, responsible work and the appreciative atmosphere in the team.

Accounting & team assistance

Wioleta Zeplin

Wioleta is an expert when it comes to organization, precision and cordiality. This benefits her colleagues, suppliers, whose invoices are always paid on time, and everyone who is in a better mood after a call to UDS. Wioleta is a qualified wholesale and foreign trade clerk and has a perfect command of her field. Before joining UDS, she was self-employed for a long time and is very familiar with the challenges in a company. She likes to contribute ideas and is pleased that they often fall on fertile ground at UDS. She appreciates the location in Hammerbrook because it is easy to reach and likes the ergonomic and appealing design of the workstations. In her free time, social projects play a major role alongside hiking and traveling.

Marketing & Public Relations

Lisa Meyer

Lisa is responsible for online marketing: personnel marketing, media analysis, communication and research. She likes the fact that internal communication at UDS works quickly and smoothly.

She will complete her second degree in "Cultural Studies and Digital Media" in spring 2024. She likes to work independently, in a structured and creative way and appreciates good communication and teamwork. She finds it practical that UDS allows her to work from home at times. Colleagues like Lisa for her helpfulness and patience and enjoy following her tips for the best vegan and vegetarian cafés and restaurants in and around Hamburg. Thanks to her enthusiasm for hiking, cycling and traveling, this "tip list" is sure to grow.
