For UDS GmbH, attending this year's BASTA conference was once again a valuable experience. The event offered a variety of lectures and workshops on current IT topics relevant to UDS. A major focus was on Large Language Models (LLMs) and their company-specific applications, particularly in security and prompt engineering. The discussions around replacing password-based authentication with passkeys, as well as innovations in .NET, were especially fascinating. Everyone at UDS agrees that AI, LLMs, and their practical applications will become increasingly important.
The AI workshop by Jörg Neumann was particularly inspiring as it presented a practical approach to adapting personalized LLMs for specific business use cases. “The content covered could very well be applied in current and future projects,” said UDS Chief Executive Officer Thomas Martin. AI-based approaches could also open up exciting opportunities for UDS’s industry solutions — for example, in sloped roof design or infrastructure planning.
The keynotes on general IT trends were also very insightful and are expected to influence future developments at UDS. The increasing number of female speakers was positively noted — a great sign of growing diversity in the IT industry.
Although direct interaction with other participants was somewhat limited due to the online format, the virtual conference ran flawlessly from a technical standpoint. Attending in person could certainly offer a more immersive experience, but on the other hand, the online format provides greater flexibility.
Overall, BASTA 2025 was a successful event that once again provided many valuable insights for our work at UDS. The chances are high that UDS will participate again next year.
